My husband and I became obsessed with cutting glass when we were gifted with a glass etcher for Christmas last year. The whole process was fun for us - from etching the line, to hearing the "pop" of the glass breaking during the hot/cold process, to then sanding down the finished product. Not to mention no longer stacking our recycle bin up with empty bottles. But then what?
So I decided to try my hand at candle making to give life back to these empty containers that once gave us some joy. Wine and beer bottles carry that nostalgia of where you were when you drank it, who you were with, how you felt. It's nice to be reminded of that time without having to dive into a new bottle. Trust me, we all enjoy that, but we also enjoy being responsible adults! So on a Tuesday night when I have to get up early the next day for a meeting, I can simply light a candle and reminisce to that first visit to my favorite vineyard.
I love experimenting with new scents, mixing them, coordinating them to the container, and perfecting the whole process. I also am not biased against other glass containers, such as jars or vases. They deserve a second chance, too!
